Following is a description of the elements
that comprise a typical wedding/union ceremony:

The Procession-Entrance, with or without music-

Gathering Words/Convocation-Introduction, Welcome, why we are here-

The Invocation/Opening Prayer-
The prayer that sets the sacred space-

The Address-
Usually a reading from a sacred text or other meaningful text, and some sharing of what the ceremony means specifically for you as individuals, partners and members of the community-

The Question of Intent/Consent-a legal requirement, indicates you agree to marry-

The Vows-
Written or chosen by you, declaring your intent, values you want to live by, vows to each other-

The Blessing/Explanation of the Rings

Ring Exchange vows-


The Minister’s Blessing-


The Silent Blessing-
The Minister asks that each member of the celebration add his or her blessings for the couple silently (optional)

The Pronouncement of Marriage-


The Kiss-


The Introduction-

The Benediction-a closing prayer-

Sacred Rituals-
Unity Candle, Handfasting, Sand Ceremony etc...

Readings-
One or two readings chosen by you and read by the Minister or
one of your friends or family members-
 
Music-
Chosen and arranged by you

Inclusion of Children- May include vows to children, presentation of gift,
Unity ceremony etc...

Silent Blessing- The minister asks that those present add his or her Blessing
for the couple-

Remembrances and Honoring element- Acknowledgement of those who are significant to the couple-
